Does the song and lyrics to the song "Shake it off"match?
Taylor Swifts new song titled "Shake It Off" is about relying on yourself and making your own decisions. It seems to focus on not listening to others but being original and knowing yourself. In the lyrics the wording was pretty clear on what the message and interpretation should have been but different people could have interpreted it in many different ways. The video depicts Taylor dancing to her own toon and not worrying what others are saying or how they want to dance. From the lyrics as it states "And the haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, Baby I'm just gonna shake, shake, shake, shake, shake" I understood that as Taylor saying that no matter what, she will do her own thing even though the hatters are going to hate we can't control other peoples feeling that is why we should only focus on ourselves and doing what makes us happy. In the music video Taylor is singing, dancing, and shaking along with several different groups such as bands, dancers, and cheerleaders, in most of the scenes she is doing her own thing and shows that she is enjoying herself. The music video and lyrics do relate to each other in some ways, for example when Taylor Swift says "I'm deciding on my own, I make the moves up as I go" this verse makes up most of the music video because when Taylor is dancing you can tell that she does not know all of the moves, she is determining them as she goes. The video and song show that even when others might show judgement we should ignore it and continue with what makes us happy. The video shows Taylor Swift having fun dancing with different groups and finding friends among them rather than fitting into a single stereotype, She stresses the message that things will work out in the end. The lyrics and video show that no matter what we should enjoy our life and do things that make us happy.
